The mini EP Small Packages is hardly your typical introduction to a new artist. The tracks deliver an eclectic blend of indie rock, folk and classic country. In many respects, the unique musical hybrid that RakuRaku creates almost seems to have been part of their destiny. Born in America, Dave Rynerson played in bluegrass, country and rock bands and moved to Beijing China where he met Grant Rolls. Grant grew up in a regular town in regular New Zealand and didn't pick up the guitar seriously until moving to Beijing 6 years ago. Originally Grant was playing in an indie rock band in Beijing called BETA and Dave in The Ramblers before moving to Tokyo and reuniting with Dave, this time in a more formal musical way. Recently joingin Raku Raku is Chris Hoskins, a fiddle player, who shreds the rosewood with some great licks that compliment Ryno's octopusesque dexterity.
